Messier 78 | NGC 2068
Stunning new image from the Atacama Pathfinder Experiment (APEX) telescope, in Chile released today. This amazing glowing reflection nebula of cosmic dust is just north of the famous, Orion’s Belt.
APEX telescope detects heat glow of the tiny grains which make up the reflection nebula, allowing astronomers to see where the new stars are.
At the top there is another reflection nebula: NGC 2071, which is thought to harbor a sun five time as massive as our own. It is located in the brightest point of the reflection nebula.
